Tap Tempo & Delay Calculator

A delay calculator that starts from the beat. Tap along with the music, read the BPM, and get every delay and reverb time in milliseconds, plus a metronome that keeps that tempo.

TAP THE TEMPO

Tap anywhere on the pad. The reading settles after three or four taps and keeps averaging as you go, so a shaky first tap does not poison the result. It reads to one decimal place, and a steadiness indicator tells you how much to trust it, few apps show you that, and it is the honest answer to "why does the number jump".

A METRONOME THAT SOUNDS

Three voices: a dry click for headphones, a wood block that cuts through an acoustic guitar, an electronic beep that survives a drum kit. The downbeat is accented with a higher sample, not with a volume bump.

It does not drift. Every beat is timed against the start of the count on a monotonic clock, never chained from the beat before, so the error never piles up over a long practice session. Time signatures 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 and 6/8, subdivisions in eighths, triplets and sixteenths, and a vibration on the beat for a noisy room.

DELAY AND REVERB TIMES, FROM THE TEMPO

Quarter, dotted eighth, eighth, eighth triplet, sixteenth, in milliseconds and in hertz, for a delay pedal, a plugin, a tremolo or an auto-wah. The dotted eighth is there on its own line, because that is the one everyone looks up and nobody lists.

Reverb too: a pre-delay of one eighth keeps the tail off the attack, and the decay is one bar at your tempo.

WITH PRO

• Speed trainer: the tempo climbs by a set amount every few bars
• Silent bars: it plays two, stays quiet for two, and you find out whether you are keeping time or following the click
• 5/4, 7/8, 9/8, 12/8
• Every click voice
• From milliseconds back to a tempo, your pedal says 375 ms, this says what tempo that is
• Twelve real delay units and plugins, with their own range, so the value you read is one you can actually set
• Copy the whole table
• Unlimited saved tempos, and no ads

Pro is one payment for good, or by the month or the week. The ads can also be removed on their own. The weekly plan starts with a 7 day trial that keeps the ads. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in Google Play.

STRAIGHT ABOUT WHAT IT DOES

Everything is computed on the phone: no account, no sign-up, your tempos stay on the phone. The app shows ads; ads and purchases go through the network. It does not listen through the microphone and does not read audio files, it measures what you tap, which is what works without a recording in front of you.

For guitarists, producers, drummers, DJs, dance and fitness teachers: delay calculator, reverb calculator, bpm to ms, ms to bpm, dotted eighth delay calculator, tap tempo bpm finder, 120 bpm to ms, 140 bpm to ms.
