The Gruffalo Spotter 2 UK has been developed for Android 7+ (Nougat) and later on Samsung S8+, Pixel, Pixel2, Pixel3 and PixelXL, Samsung Galaxy Tab S4+. Previous versions of these devices will not be fully supported.

Based on The Gruffalo, the best-selling picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, families follow clues on an interactive trail and track signs for their favourite characters.
The self-led trail is packed with fun facts about the forest animals with fantastic activities along the way. Once families have spotted the characters, they can use the app to bring the 3D character animations to life, interact with the characters and film and take photographs of the experience.
Videos and photos are automatically added to the device’s gallery.
Taking family forest walks to new heights, the app mixes new technology with the real world, encouraging children to get exploring, firing their imaginations and giving them a forest experience like no other.

Updated 4June 21 to say that app was working brilliantly yesterday, and we loved being able to film the children along side the animation to watch later. Now ... if only you could film in selfie mode! ... and had longer arms!! Love it, but very glitchy animations.... grey across the middle with over bright colour top and bottom. Sometimes took a couple of views to work out quite how close to stand to activate the app to see the whole animation.

I read a lot of negative reviews for this but it worked really well for us. Took me a while to realise the images and videos are saved in the files of my phone and not in the app. I'd recommend getting another person to do the interacting with the character so your child can watch the activity.

Interesting idea, unfortunately family left disappointed. Caused phone to get very hot, crashed a few times on the snake disc and dint save progress. Asks the children to interact but daughter was left confused - could not see if there was a way to change it to use the front camera so kids could see and interact at same time. We had a nice day in the woods but ultimately the Gruffalo experience was found wanting.

Clever way to make a walk more fun for little ones (and big ones!). However it is buggy. It crashed a number of times and I couldn't get the Owl one to work, whether it was the way the post was in the shade? So excellent idea, but execution needs finesse.
