Update: The issues seem to be fixed now! I was going to send screenshots to the dev team, but I can no longer reproduce any issues. I notice the zoom bubble still appears, but doesn't get stuck. Thanks! Original review: For basically a text reading app in 2024, it's been surprisingly buggy for surprisingly long. Sometimes articles are clipped on both sides and can't be read from the app. Sometimes weird zoom bubbles open on parts of the screen when I try to scroll down and can't be dismissed.

There's an issue with this app on Android. If I hold down too long while scrolling an article it creates a bubble that interferes with reading. Been happening for years. Only news app this happens with.

Since my dad Sat at his doorway waiting for his door waiting for the Toronto Star in the early morning hours, his enjoyment travelled to me. He put the coffee pot on and spent the quiet hours reading and shared the news with me. I feel this connection now when I open my app and read. There is always something connected in a story to my life. This morning I saved the story about Prince Harry coming to the Grey Cup and his Invictus interview.

I love the Star itself, but this app is only getting worse and worse with each update. I used to be able to follow particular authors, but for some unfathomable reason now that feature is gone, and I have to search for my favorite opinion columnists manually to see what they've produced. Absolute trash. The journalists that make the Star what it is deserved better recognition, and the readers deserve convenient news access. Seriously considering stopping my $12/mth subscription.

I can never find the featured article I clicked to read. You have to really dig for other articles that are not on your headlines. The app is the same. Also preferred 'old style' newspaper format
