Comments on The Times Literary Supplement. for Android

I had an issue with Dark Mode on the app, but it was speedily resolved so upped my review to 4 to 5 stars. I'm new so still feeling my way around. App is easy to use, and I find reading is comfortable both on tablet & even on phone. The sheer mass of content and rapid output is a bit overwhelming at times but as I said, I'm still working it out. As an irregular & at times regular reader of the TLS for 30 years I am glad I have affordable access to the journal.

The very height of literary criticism, but accessible to those of us who simply value excellent writers, providing sharp and often brilliant thoughts on a wide range of often equally brilliant books and authors.

Great app for a great magazine, which I buy mainly for the sport and the motoring pages. Or not.

Brilliant app to accompany the paper version. Takes the paper to a next
level. Stores your downloaded copies and the ui is simple but clear and
well-designed. I may not always have my paper copy to hand so when
commuting etc. this means I always have it to hand on my phone or tablet.
People giving this less than 4 stars may as well not bother leaving a
review. Relentless publication.

Despair. - Subscribed to finish reading article was fascinated by ... [Reluctantly] downloaded app when was then unable to log in via Google ... Still unable to return to original article. App clumsy, difficult to navigate & all-important Search function wildly imprecise. Do better, chaps.

It is excellent on my two Kindle Fire tablets, but it freezes after a few minutes on the Android ones (I use two Asus Zen pads). I have downloaded it many times on the latter, but have always had to uninstall it again. It's a shame, as many subscribers will not be tablet fanatics like me and those with a purely Android OS are likely to be deprived of the TLS in the format that suits them best. On train journeys, I have to pack one of my chunky Kindles, not the light and pocketable Zen pads.

Among the many design flaws of this app and the inexplicable design choices, I will mention just two. Why do I have to click to see the reviewed book details if these details are what makes me read the review? And then, when I click, often the pop-up sticks to the bottom of the screen, and cannot be moved from there whilst obscuring the last lines, say, number of pages and price. And why only the books reviewed in the In Brief section have their covers shown?

Created by people who do not use it or read anything. Awkward, irritatingly limited in almost every aspect. One reads an issue, one expects it to be there on re-launching the app: nope. One downloads the issues, expecting to see the somewhere: nope, scroll through the carousel of all issues. One expects the bookmarked article to provide navigation to the issue it came from: nope, no date, no link, no navigation. It's one of the most absurd reading apps out there

I'm a subscriber and have no intention of buying issues online. I see no place to sign in.
