Description
A comprehensive gardeners guide to growing over 50 vegetables. Ideal for enthusiastic amateur gardeners, and experienced professionals alike. Covering the essentials of planting, spacing, plant care, harvesting, storing, different varieties and potential problems with each variety, this invaluable app will soon have your table full of delicious home grown vegetables!
Klaus Laitenberger - the author of this app - has written 3 books on growing vegetables - here's what other people have had to say about his work:
"Klaus Laitenberger has already written a general book on vegetable gardening and started a seed company. Now he's produced a new book called "Vegetables for the Polytunnel and Greenhouse". What makes it unusual, if not unique, is that it's firmly based on hands-on experience gained in one of the more difficult parts of the country for growing things.
The approach is strictly organic, although most of the information is also relevant to gardeners who are not as purist. It's self-published but excellently laid out and beautifully illustrated. He writes in a clear and orderly way in English that is fluent but occasionally has a turn of phrase that reminds you that it's not his first language. And, although it's aimed at beginners I learnt a lot from it, and I'm hardly a beginner at this stage." - Dick Warner - Irish Examiner
'I was brought up short when I came across an inspiring new book this week 'Vegetables of the Polytunnel and Greenhouse' by Klaus Laitenberger. Formerly the Head Gardener at the Organic Centre at Rossinver, Co. Leitrim he has been growing vegetables organically for 20 years in the UK and Ireland. He lays out a successional growing programme, month-by-month, vegetable-by-vegetable which will almost double the productivity of the plot and really keep you in vegetables all year round.' ★★★★★
Keen Gardener Great easy to use app. Gives all the basic information necessary to grow a wide variety of vegetables in a wonderful "no fuss" manner. A must have accessory for any gardener from novice to experienced. Would highly recommend.

Essential Portable Reading I came across this guy via the excellent tutorials he has done for Quickcrop so this is hugely helpful and very cheap for what amounts to everything you need on one app. So easy to use and very portable. Thank you.

I know is called vegetable grower but it could include fruits and flowers as it is so well organised! Well done, thanks.

Dumbed-down instructions for growing limited species of each type of vegetable. No instructions at all on Southern region specific crops (below zone 6) so if you live South of Virginia, there's no good info you can use. Also, does NOT include alternatives to GMO fertilizers, in fact the app encourages the use of off-the-shelf fertilizers by continuously using the phrase "requires very fertile soil" without explaining what soil amendments can be used to insure fertilization is met without using GMO, mass-produced fertilizers, nor does it explain how to achieve a specialized level of fertilization, which is different for every plant. The app also never explains what a "sheltered location" is so it's very possible for people to get confused and put their corn crops (or other sun-lovers) in the shade where they think they are "sheltered" or "protected". In short, if you've never ever even tried to think about doing basic gardening for the creation of your own food (in which case you would likely not be reading this review, since you have not even had the slightest inkling of doing any gardening, much less grabbing a gardening app) this app would be slightly informative. If, however, you are like me and wish to take your organic vegetable garden to the next level, you are sadly mistaken if you believe this app will teach anything new. If you're strictly non-GMO like me, I recommend Pinterest.

Uninstalled almost immediately! Absolutely of no use to southern gardeners
(we're in FL-zones 9/10) or organic gardeners. Info is very dumbed down. If
you're not familiar with the metric system be prepared to get a conversion
chart. Very limited in species. All fertilizers suggested contain GMO. Not
even info on DIY composting.
