Trainable works differently (better) than other running apps I have used. I am glad I gave it a try and have now upgraded to the paid version. It integrates very well with my Garmin watch (Forerunner 235) loading runs for the next few days onto my watch seamlessly and then downloading the results for analysis at the end of each run. I'm a senior category runner 60+. I have been using this app for nearly 2 years now. I particularly like the flexibility of the AI compared to other running programs I have tried, if I miss a run (or try to hard) it adjusts the running schedule automatically. This has made it much easier to stick with the program. It feels a little light in the runs, but as a result I have been injury free over the last 2 years and running consistently, so I guess it is getting it right. Normally I would expect an injury every 6-12 months because I pushed myself too hard! The app uses a traffic light system (red/amber/green) to grade completed runs. This shows how well I have followed the planned run which I have found surprisingly effective to prevent me working too hard or too soft in the run. It has been really useful keeping me going with Park Run off the table at the moment. The Trainable team have been responsive to user feedback in developing their app.

I think they've nailed it!!! I used this app years ago and thought it was pushing me a little aggressively, like 3 ten mile runs consecutively for my half-marathon training I've since come back and the last four wks have been spot on. I've never seen this much improvement in that short a span I know they've upgraded the AI system to Artemis and I have to say it has made all the difference. I set my app to run 7 d/wk, and it gives me just the right mix of recovery/pace work/interval training.

Easy to use and follow training plan that works with almost all common running apps (or by itself). I started using it after Nike Run Club removed "My Coach" and wouldn't go back to Nike even if it was an option. The only issue I have with Trainable is the slightly clunky app interface / understanding what to code runs as, but that goes away pretty quickly. The developer is also actively making improvements, so I'm sure it'll only get better.

Poor interaction with other apps. What's the point of a nice plan if you can't follow it easily? Voice instructions whilst using the app are sporadic - sometimes it doesn't tell you when a new segment has begun, or when the run has ended. Too many speed up & speed down instructions too, the readings are too variable to be of any use, particularly at the start of a new segment. Emailed several times to see how interactivity with other apps could be better and what they would suggest. No response!

I used the free version as my marathon training plan. I ditched it with 4 weeks out because I felt that I wouldn't be ready for the race (this was my 13th marathon). I read that the paid version offers different levels of training - where you can increase the risk tolerance. If I used this app again, I would pay for the app. The workouts were fun, and the app was easy to use. It worked seamlessly with my Garmin watch.

Sounds great in theory, but the app optimizes for injury avoidance and maintenance, not performance. Even after selecting “get faster,” it kept me at ~2–2.5h/week and scheduled 10–12 min runs unless I manually changed settings. If you slightly overrun a session, it delays your next run as a “load spike.” If you understand training basics, build your own plan. If you want structured progression, Runny worked far better for me.
