Turf is a real-world multiplayer location based game where movement, exploration and strategy meet.
By visiting virtual zones placed across cities, towns and natural landscapes, you claim territory, score points and take part in a global game played entirely outdoors.
You choose how you want to play. Some players compete intensely for top positions, while others explore at their own pace. Turf offers numerous leaderboards — local, regional, national and global — allowing every player to find their own level of challenge.
The game is played in monthly rounds where the leaderboards reset, while your long-term progress, achievements and statistics remain. Whether you play alone or together with others, Turf encourages curiosity, consistency and time spent outside.

Great fun game/sport for keeping active and exploring your local area, or wherever you happen to be. Addictive once you get into it. It must be said that the user interface is not overly intuitive, so its worth reading the FAQ, forums, and talking to other Turf players. There are some great tools for analysis or you're turfing, or planning your turf sessions. However, many of these are actually third party sites. Odd, yes, but ok considering Turf is available free (unless you opt to support).

The guys behind the game are SO helpful. If you want zones near you just ask and they deliver. You can then start this game in your country, area, city.....

The only fault I have is that you can't switch off the GPS without completely shutting down the app

The reviews about it being specific to Norway weren't kidding. Literally every single person on the map when I opened the app is in Norway. Maybe if you were to make more locations other than in the biggest cities in the US and other countries, more people would play it. But for now, the closest "zone" to me is in St. Louis, MO. 2.5 hours south of me.

A good idea spoiled by obsessives spending 12 hrs a day at it every other day. Ini my area there are too many zones too close together, every 1 minute by bicycle, also, meaningless zones in scabby housing estate cul-de-sacs strewn with dog mess and broken glass. It was useful s a way of getting one's exercise in but is ultimately pointless as it is scrubbed every month/30 days and start again. The map is handy tho and quick to load....oh and it's free
