Description
UK tidal stream directions and rates are calculated hourly.
The tidal current data is licensed from the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO). This is the same data that is used for the tidal diamonds shown on UKHO charts.
The tidal heights for the reference ports come from BODC harmonics (British Oceanographic Data Centre).
A simple outline map is used to display the tidal 'arrows'.
Using the 'Prev/Next' buttons the tidal streams are calculated for each hour using the same information as the UKHO Tidal Stream Atlases. The rate of the current is calculated from the tidal range for the day at the reference port. Placing the cursor at the base of an arrow reveals the direction and rate of the current for that position.
In order to visualise tidal streams for the voyage a GPX route file can be imported. The route is overlaid on the map.
Recent changes: ChangeLog: v1.6 Crosshair moved off-centre when the device was rotated. Now fixed to the centre of the map.
v1.5: Background map now shows in Android 9 (Android Pie) devices.
v1.4: Preferences allow selection of the default port and arrow size. Removed superfluous download warning which appeared when the screen was rotated.

Looks like a good app, but the background map does not always display on my device which makes it pretty unusable. I did manage to download the map once and thought I had sorted it, but when I opened the app again I got the 'no map' message again and the download would not work, dialogue box opens saying 'downloading:0%' then disappears... ★★☆☆☆
Not that good, as a sea kayaked you need to plan, this only gives an immediate picture. The most annoying aspect is that the tidal display is obscure by the tide information. Waste of money.
★★☆☆☆
Didn't seem to meaningfully or usefully work so quickly obtained refund
