Hey I found a kind of work around for the disabling of the widget under Android 13. As other commenters have noted the badge still works, but the widget won't open Gmail. So using Nova as my launcher I put a tiny (almost transparent) image as a link to Gmail on the screen then positioned the unread badge icon on top of the Gmail link. Now when I click on the area of the unread badge Gmail still opens.

I loved this badge until the newest Android OS killed it. Are there plans and a timeline to update?

Have used this widget for years and loved it, but today, after my phone updated to Android 13, it has stopped working. It won't open when I tap on it on my nime screen. I uninstalled & reinstalled, but still the same. Please fix

No longer works. Will still show unread count on the widget but if you click on the widget it won't open gmail

No longer works after Android update. Try to email the developer and the email bounces. Their website no longer works. Looks like this company is out of business. Too bad because I paid for premium for life.
