Comments on VicEmergency for Android

★★★★★ Philip Deem · Sep 25, 2026

Different sounds for events would be good. The current alert sound is a little underwhelming and easily missed. I live in the bush and would like to set something obnoxious for fire alerts.

★★★★☆ Peter Barnes · Jan 9, 2026

Replacing my old review as the app has improved greatly, been good for years now if you take the time to configure your watch zones, and has mostly worked without a hitch today under presumably very high load. My only gripe today is that the map is displaying the catastrophic rating areas despite having the ratings layer turned off, and the red of the catastrophic area makes interpretation of the warning areas difficult, particularly for people whose vision isn't great or who are color blind.

★★★★☆ Peter Stevens · Jun 13, 2026

I use the Vic Emergency app a lot and for many years. But recently I've upgraded to a Samsung A57 phone and the Vic Emergency alert sound is NOT the normal app alert sound but a feeble and definitely not alerting sound. All I find is references that the sounds produced are from within the app itself. Phone related issue or Android version related?

★★★★☆ Sina Aghabagheri · Jan 12, 2026

Does notify you properly and does what it needs to do (give you alerts on emergencies) but emergency wa app looks better and this app's ui/ux looks terrible

★★☆☆☆ Catherine Barlow · Sep 20, 2026

The incidents and warnings buttons sit on top of the overlay buttons for the phone so when I press one of them it shuts the app down.

★☆☆☆☆ S Reid · Jan 24, 2026

Useless, can't get past the load screen where it asks for location permission.

★☆☆☆☆ Mark Throckmorton · Mar 30, 2026

Inaccurate app just got a notification saying there is a fire at my house but there isn't

★★☆☆☆ zomes zomes · Jan 15, 2026

6 years on from my initial review and nothing has improved regarding the constant notifications. The watch zones and associated filters work well but the constant notifications about air quality, heatwaves, total fire bans etc. work against the purpose of the app and make you more likely to ignore the important notifications. For the love of god give us an option to disable the state wide alerts/notifications as they are absolutely useless for all but the strictest of hermits
