I use the Vic Emergency app a lot and for many years. But recently I've upgraded to a Samsung A57 phone and the Vic Emergency alert sound is NOT the normal app alert sound but a feeble and definitely not alerting sound. All I find is references that the sounds produced are from within the app itself. Phone related issue or Android version related?

I'm an older Aussie, I generally avoid technology. As such, I have 3 apps on my phone and this is one of. I have not found it to also serve as a 'data collection' device, although it would store some info. Seems a genuine attempt at keeping people safe and informed, and it does it very well. And seriously, if I can navigate it, anyone can. Up here in the mountains, the ability to monitor fires and emergencies is critical. Thanks to the creator for this. A genuinely helpful, even lifesaving, app.

It's an easy-to-use app, but it's rather difficult to navigate the whole state and find the current incidents that are happening outside your saved zones

Couple of things : impact areas should be on by default as you would be surprised how many people don't look or know that option is in the menu. Also why in 2026 can we not even have delayed or snapshot satellite view to see the fire/smoke? Could have an option for the public to report embers and then turn that on and off to see how far ahead embers are travelling. Multiple notifications for air quality and other things when im clearly in fire zone not helpful and distracting. Where is wind? Thx

As soon as I get notification I click and 70% of the time the app states the notification is out of date. A house fire or unplanned bush fire has already been put out within 10 minutes, even though it takes over 15 minutes for the cfa to show up. Planned bush fires can last up to 1 week even though the cra is only burning for 1 to 2 hours. Something needs to be done to improve the app!

6 years on from my initial review and nothing has improved regarding the constant notifications. The watch zones and associated filters work well but the constant notifications about air quality, heatwaves, total fire bans etc. work against the purpose of the app and make you more likely to ignore the important notifications. For the love of god give us an option to disable the state wide alerts/notifications as they are absolutely useless for all but the strictest of hermits
