VLC has a built-in web based remote. This app gets blocked by the firewall, does not work correctly, and even if it did work you are paying for something that exists for free.

Works as advertised, but cannot install paid version on more than one android phone/tablet. Results in "already installed" but charges me twice anyway. Also, it requires VLC to be running, that's fine, but could you get the PC app to run VLC manually if not already running?
