Description by Open Box (from Google Play)

Requires *FULL ROOT* (aka S-OFF or NAND unlock) and *BUSYBOX*. Please use Busybox version 1.17.x as 1.18.x compile is broken!

Notice: Many users have been asking for increased heap size values. I will not be adding them as Android device configurations have advanced over time, with most devices now offering more than enough heap by default. Increasing it even further won't be of much benefit, as such this app is mostly useful for older devices.

Allows to change the Dalvik VM heap size to give demanding applications more heap space (thus decreasing frequency of garbage collection) to speed-up your device and improve overall performance including battery life. YMMV though.

Please note that changing the heap size may affect the stability of your device and therefore use this app with care!

Special thanks for helping out go to Stephan and Anthony :)

Comments on VM Heap Tool (root only) for Android

★★★★★ Seems like a good app but On my samsung stratosphere it can't increase the heap size, as my default is apparently 72m, meaning no support for stratosphere. I'm not sure if the fix would be larger values or maybe it's just the stratosphere or my ROM. Anyways id like some help, thanks!

★★★★★ Works Great on Droid-X Made my phone & Launcher run faster & better than ever! I only wish I had found this sooner!

★★★★★ Absolutely love it I can see major difference. I use anim mod and am using a Motorola Defy. A bad combination since the phone is very slow, even with ROMs such as SetCpu and Optimistic for Root, although they did improve performance the apps still loaded slow. Finally came upon this app and I can see noticeably better performance, from 30 to 64 M of heap, and so far seems stable. And now I get fast apps and I get to see the ssmooth transitions of anim mod :D Thank you!

★★☆☆☆ Don't DL if you have busy box 1.8!!! Soft bricked my S3 on reboot when I applied the 32 option I believe it was. Had to do a nandroid backup. Uninstall. Keep up with other software releases, thanks!

★★☆☆☆ Fu*k! This app screwed up my phone, it showed default heap value for gingerbread is 24m which was bullshit. I'm running gingerbread now my phone crashes every time i turn it on. And i cant even open the app drawer to access the app to undo the changes.

★★☆☆☆ Galaxy Nexus: I cannot use yet Fully rooted, but rendering issues on my high resolution screen rendered the app unusable.

★★☆☆☆ Does not work Hero 2.1 does not reboot and settings don't stay after manual reboot.
