The sky is alive, and now you can see it too. Vogeltrek Radar turns current KNMI radar data into a clear signal for your location. Discover how active the sky above you is, especially in the evening and at night, when many birds migrate.

Cranes and geese you see by day. The big bird migration you never see: it happens at night. In spring and autumn, large numbers of migrating birds pass high overhead every night. Weather radar sees them: if the rain radar shows "rain" under a clear sky, it is often birds. For birdwatchers, birders, NocMig recorders and everyone who loves watching birds: Vogeltrek Radar tells you when it is worth going outside tonight to listen.

HOW IT WORKS

- See the current radar signal above your place.
- Discover on the map where activity is stronger across the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
- See how busy the night is with a score from 0 to 100, compared with previous nights at your place.
- Check the outlook for tomorrow morning, based on recent mornings.
- Get an alert when activity reaches your alert threshold.
- Add the widget to your home screen and see the signal without opening the app.

The source data is usually updated every five minutes. The app shows the measurement time and tells you when data is delayed, uncertain or unavailable.

Want to look beyond the current signal? Plus offers:

- An hourly forecast for the evening and night, and up to six hours ahead on the map, with insight into likely peak moments.
- Looking back over past days on the map.
- A night report with a summary of the measured activity.
- Adjustable alert thresholds, so you decide at which intensity you get a heads-up.

Plus is an auto-renewing subscription of €1.99 per month or €12.99 per year. A free trial month is available to eligible users. The current price and any trial period are shown before purchase. Prices may vary by country.

The subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. You can manage and cancel it under Subscriptions in Google Play; Plus stays active until the end of the current period.

ABOUT THE DATA

Vogeltrek Radar uses open radar data from KNMI (CC BY 4.0). The radar measures flying life: besides birds, insects can also contribute to the signal. Especially at night, the measurement is useful as an indication of bird migration. The app does not identify bird species and does not give exact bird counts. Forecasts are estimates, not guaranteed observations.

The radar covers the Netherlands, Belgium and a large part of Germany. Coverage gaps can occur locally. The app warns you about this when you choose a location.
