Comments on Welsh Language Trainer for Android

★★★★★ Miriam Brouwer · Jun 12, 2024

I wouldn't recommend for complete beginners, but for practicing what you know and learning a little more while you do so, this is excellent, diolch yn fawr iawn! New concepts are well explained (loved finally getting an explanation of 'yn'), and I don't feel like I'm going over the basics too much. But in the lesson "Singing" it says that "yn y bore" is "tonight". But it is "in the morning". Elsewhere, 'bore' is translated correctly

***edited rating as Ben looked into the issue and sorted it in a matter of days, and I am now able to access the menu 🙂*** I enjoyed the games as a way to practice, but unfortunately I had an issue where I couldn't press the "lessons", "practice" and "vocabulary" buttons at the bottom as they sit directly under the back and home buttons on my phone. If this issue can be sorted, I'd be happy to start my subscription up again.

It's better than it used to be, that's for sure, but there are some issues that need to be ironed out, namely that the app will effectively soft lock after you've run out of time on the matching game (1st game) (no way back to the menu will appear, so I had to close the app and reopen it). Other than that, it has quite a good amount of choices to try now. My only wish on this is that there were maybe a couple more games/quizzes, or that the quizzes themselves had more choices, for more variety.

I'm on my second day, I've done three repetitions of the first set of 8 lessons & still haven't gotten even an intro to the story. By the looks of it I have to repeat the first 8-lessons unit 5 times to get a single chapter? If I just want drills, there are better apps that actually let me progress, and they don't mess up the audio as much, or just make me keep doing the same thing over & over & over. Your whole sales pitch is the story, LET US HAVE THE STORY.

I was really enjoying this, until the questions were identified the day out of this sentence and the answers were all colors?

★★☆☆☆ Grace Bigham · Sep 8, 2024

I found the vocab quizzes really helpful in consolidating my Welsh. But in the lessons you can't fill in the blanks which is quite annoying...

The y cannot be moved! Thanks for your reply, but no I cannot 'tap' any letter or word and move them.
