off. Everything — the articles, the family trees, the world map, the search index — is
built into the app. Open it on a plane, on the underground, or on a mountain, and it reads
exactly the same.
WHAT IS INSIDE
• 13 traditions, from Christianity, Islam and Judaism to Sikhism, Jainism, Shinto,
Taoism, Confucianism and African traditional religion
• 41 branches and denominations, each with its own page
• 23 scriptures, with what they are and where they came from
• 30 figures — founders, prophets, teachers and reformers
• 44 holy sites: birthplaces, pilgrimage cities and sacred ground
BROWSE BY FAMILY
Traditions are grouped the way historians group them — Abrahamic, Indian, East Asian and
others — so you can see at a glance which faiths grew from the same root.
FOLLOW THE FAMILY TREE
One screen shows how the branches split: Christianity into Catholicism, Orthodoxy and the
Protestant churches; Buddhism into Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana; and so on down to
the denominations, with the century each one began.
COMPARE, SIDE BY SIDE
Put up to three traditions in one table and read their view of God, of scripture, of what
happens after death, and of how a follower is meant to live — the same questions asked of
each, so the answers can actually be compared.
A MAP THAT NEEDS NO CONNECTION
Every holy site is placed on a vector map of the world drawn inside the app: no tiles, no
downloads, no tracking. Pinch to zoom, filter by tradition, and tap a place to read about
it. Tap its coordinates and — if you want to — open the same spot in Google Maps.
SEARCH THAT FORGIVES
Type a few letters and results narrow as you go. Partial words work, misspellings are
corrected, and Korean can be searched by initial consonants alone.
FIVE LANGUAGES, ALL THE WAY DOWN
English, Korean, French, German and Spanish — not just the menus, but every article,
every description and every place name. A fresh install follows your phone's language and
falls back to English; you can change it any time in Settings.
BUILT TO BE EASY ON THE EYES
A quiet, warm palette in light or dark, four text sizes, and a home screen where
everything is one tap away. No account. No sign-up. No profile.
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
It keeps no record of what you read or search for, and it holds no personal data. The only
thing that uses the network is the small banner at the foot of the home screen, which is
what keeps the app free. Where the law requires it, you are asked before any ad is
requested, and you can change that answer at any time in Settings.

ABOUT THE CONTENT
The descriptions summarise the mainstream account of each tradition, as an encyclopedia
would. They do not speak for any denomination or represent any official position, and
follower counts are rounded estimates drawn from published surveys. Map outlines come from Natural Earth (public domain).
Recent changes:
• Discover & Learn: a topic of the day, guided reading courses and short quizzes
• My Reading: pick up where you left off, with saved entries and your progress
• A calmer, more book-like look: serif headings, ruled lists, a full-width holy-sites map
• Holy-site pins and filters now take each tradition's colour
• Search opens ready to type, and "did you mean" suggestions are tappable
• Refreshed app icon
