Brownell back in 2009, the Yale Food Addiction Scale (YFAS) is the first measuring tool designed specifically to assess signs of addictive-like eating behavior. It's been suggested that an addiction to certain foods could contribute to overeating, resulting in obesity, which is a global issue. With 25 easy-to-answer questionnaire items based on the diagnostic criteria for substance dependence as stated in the DSM-IV (American Psychiatric Association), the YFAS has been embraced by clinical and non-clinical populations worldwide.
