Comments on Yandex Translate for Android

★★★★★ Arslan Baig · May 13, 2026

Yandex Translate is the best English-to-Russian and Russian-to-English translation app. Enabling its offline-mode helps in case there's no internet and foreigners have to communicate with Russians.

★★★★★ Murathan Kayhan · Aug 2, 2026

For Learning Russian, this app is beyond a translator, it is a language app!

★★★★★ reallynotfair wordpress com · May 23, 2026

Nice translator with an offline mode where you can download the languages that you need, and photo/camera translating.

★★☆☆☆ EllieM · Sep 13, 2026

Yandex has changed to AI translations, so one no longer gets EXACT translations, but renditions of a translation into colloquial English, but which are totally useless to serious language learners. Lost are the cultural references when the exact original translations are lost. If there is a way to change back to the old translation method, please let me know. Also explain how to get out of this mode. This stinks.

★☆☆☆☆ Nathaniel Fisher · Sep 7, 2026

The app itself works fine, however the translation AI will refuse to translate any kind of profanity, because its, "harmful to others" It is not up to the AI what language can or cannot be spoken by others. The point of the app is to translate, not gate keep. The AI will default to russian at random aswell.

★☆☆☆☆ Clariz Velasco · Sep 3, 2026

Why did you remove the pronunciation? The old version is more convenient because I can read the pronunciation and pronounce it better than just listening. Cuz on listening, I might mistake one word or another. But on reading the pronunciation and saying it myself, I improve. But when you remove it, I kinda hated the app now. Kinda useless.
