A Associação Brasileira de Emissoras de Rádio e Televisão tem a missão de defender a liberdade de expressão, em todas as suas formas, bem como defender os interesses das emissoras de radiodifusão, suas prerrogativas como executoras de serviços de interesse público, assim como seus direitos e garantias; enfatizar os princípios adequados à radiodifusão brasileira, notadamente as suas expressões educativa, cultural, cívica, informativa e recreativa; postular a adoção de medidas legais e judiciais de proteção e amparo aos interesses morais e materiais da radiodifusão.

Por fim, a Associação tem a missão de representar a radiodifusão e estabelecer intercâmbios junto às entidades congêneres estaduais, nacionais e internacionais em congressos, conferências, convênios, palestras e certames promovidos por entidades governamentais ou não-governamentais.
