AIRFIELD: Gesture MIDI

Shape sound with your hands.

AIRFIELD turns hand gestures into MIDI controls for your instruments and music apps. Place your iPhone screen-up, hold one hand above the front camera, and use movement to shape the sound of a connected MIDI instrument.

A focused performance surface
Four colored control rows keep your gesture assignments in view. Lift, slide, turn, pinch, or make a fist to control your chosen parameters. Browse banks, hold values, and switch Control on when you are ready to play.

Make each gesture your own
Choose a hand shape and movement, set the MIDI target and range, and adjust smoothing or inversion. Calibrate your hand range for Lift control. Add optional gesture actions and phone-motion controls to suit your setup.

Keep your setups close
Save and recall scenes containing your mappings and gesture choices. Start with presets for selected OP-1 field engines, then adapt the controls to the sound already loaded on your instrument.

Connect to your music setup
Open Connect in AIRFIELD, then choose AIRFIELD from your compatible Bluetooth MIDI instrument or Mac. Turn Control on when the app shows Connected. Other connections brings together USB MIDI, compatible apps, and the option to connect from AIRFIELD instead. AIRFIELD sends MIDI control messages; your instrument or receiving app produces the sound.

Private by design
Hand tracking runs on your iPhone. Camera images are not recorded or uploaded. No AIRFIELD account is required. Settings and scenes are stored locally, and diagnostics are shared only when you choose to export and send them.

Requirements
• iPhone with iOS 17 or later.
• A front TrueDepth camera is required for Lift (hand-height) control.
• A compatible MIDI instrument or receiving app is required to hear the result. Bluetooth audio alone is not a MIDI connection.
• Camera access is needed for hand tracking. Bluetooth and Motion permissions are used for their respective features.
