Alongside Bible

Alongside is a simple, quiet Bible reader for people who want to understand what they read, not just get through it.

READ IN TWO LANGUAGES
• The full Chinese Union Version (和合本) and the Berean Standard Bible, built in and fully offline
• Read Chinese, English, or both verse by verse
• Made for readers whose first language is Chinese, and anyone reading across the two

PLAIN WORDS, SIDE BY SIDE
• Turn any chapter into a plain-language retelling in Chinese and English
• Read the original and the plain version paragraph by paragraph, or either one on its own
• Every verse is covered: nothing skipped, nothing added
• Short notes explain hard words, and one open question helps you pause and think

TALK IT THROUGH
• Ask about a verse or share a thought, and get a calm, honest reply about this chapter
• Tap any verse to bring it into the discussion
• Uses your own Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI API key, stored only in your iPhone's Keychain
• Always asks before sending anything to an AI service. Private notes are never sent

MAKE IT YOURS
• Tap a verse to highlight it in four colours or write a short note
• Bookmarks, chapter notes, and a Marks page to find everything again
• Search words in both translations, or jump straight to a reference like John 3:16

A LITTLE EVERY DAY
• Reading plans: the whole Bible in a year, the New Testament in 90 days, the Gospels in 30 days, and Job to Ecclesiastes in 60 days
• Streaks and a daily reminder that lists today's chapters
• Swipe to turn chapters; mark a chapter read and keep going

COMFORTABLE TO READ
• Light and dark modes with nine colour palettes, from paper white to pure black
• Choose your reading font, including Kai and Song styles, and your text size

ON IPHONE AND MAC
• Sign in with Apple, Google or email to sync progress, notes, highlights, plans and plain versions between devices
• Everything works without an account too
• Share your plain versions with friends so they can read offline

A NOTE ON AI
Plain versions and discussions are AI-assisted. They are not a Bible translation or an authoritative interpretation. Alongside is meant to help you read and think for yourself, not to replace Scripture, prayer, or your community.
