Asma: The 99 Names

There are ninety-nine Names. Most of us know three.

Asma gives you one each morning: the Name itself, the root it grows from, where it appears in the Quran, how the Prophet peace be upon him lived it, and one plain thing to do with it today.

Every hadith is checked. Every verse is cited. Each card lists its sources and says whether the Prophet peace be upon him uses the Name himself, so you can go and read them rather than taking anyone's word for it. Nothing else in this category does that, and it is the reason to trust what you are reading.

THE DIAL
Ninety-nine dots on a ring, one for each Name. Today's is lit. Turn it slowly and the Names pass under your thumb.

WHERE THE WORD COMES FROM
Ar-Rahman and the word for womb share a root. Al-Wadud means both to love and to wish for. The meaning of a Name lives in its letters, and every card starts there.

NAMES FOR HOW YOU FEEL
Answer one question about how you have been lately, and keep a small circle of Names that meet it. Anxious, grieving, stuck, alone. They sit in the dial with a gold ring and you can open them any time.

PRAYER TIMES AND THE QIBLA
The five times for wherever you are, worked out on your phone from the sun, not fetched from a server. Twelve calculation methods, both Asr schools, and a rule for high latitudes where the sun never sets far enough. A qibla compass sits in the corner while you read, with the Kaaba on the dial where it actually is. Reminders at each prayer, and on the white days, the 13th to 15th of each lunar month. Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets in two styles, for the next prayer and the whole day. Missed one? Tap it, and it waits under To make up until you have.

ROOM TO WRITE
A page a day, by hand with Apple Pencil or typed. Your journal never leaves your phone, and nor does anything else you write or choose. No accounts and no advertising. The only thing Asma ever sends is an anonymous daily count of which parts of the app were opened, and you can turn that off in Settings.

LEARN THEM BY HEART
Spaced repetition that brings each Name back just before you would forget it. A few minutes a day and you know them all.

ALSO
The Islamic date on the home screen. Arabic in Naskh or IndoPak script. A counter for dhikr that keeps its place. A quiet reminder each morning if you want one. Widgets for the Home Screen and the Lock Screen.

GIVE IT TO SOMEONE
Give Asma Pro for a month, a year, or for good. You get a link to send, and it opens in Asma on their iPhone or iPad.

FREE AND PRO
Prayer times and the qibla are free, and always will be. Today's Name is always free too, with its full card, every source and its du'a. The dial and the list of all ninety-nine are free to browse, the dhikr counter is free, and so is today's journal page.

Asma Pro opens any of the other ninety-eight Names whenever you want them, plus your Circle, memorizing, your journal's history and the widgets. Seven days free, then a small monthly cost, or buy it once and keep it.
