ATC Ready: Aptitude Test Prep

Training as an air traffic controller? ATC Ready rebuilds the ability tests controller selection is built on, organised the way each provider's process actually runs.

NATS — ALL FOUR STAGES (16 tests)
Stage 1, the online ability tests (13): Sense of Direction, Reaction Time, Monitoring, Numerical Reasoning, Mental Arithmetic, Logical Reasoning (grid rules), Deductive Reasoning, Rule Discovery, Spatial Orientation (bearings), 3D Cubes, Working Memory, Multi-Tasking and Concentration.

Stage 2 (2): Situational Judgement, with the reasoning behind every item explained, and Listening Comprehension on live-sounding ATC radio traffic in a range of accents.

Stage 3: a live, spoken mock of the assessment-centre interview. It follows up when an answer is vague, presses for real examples the way a competency interview does, and writes you an evidence-based debrief. A free prep hub is included for everyone; the interview itself is a separate purchase.

Stage 4: a radar work sample — run aircraft through their gates on relative turns and altitudes, clear of danger areas and unknown traffic.

FEAST (11 tests)
EUROCONTROL's ten published exercises, following its rules and its sequence: Rule Classification, Visual Comparison, Cube Folding, Instrument Recall, Shape Memory, Vigilance, Distance and Bearing, Arrival Planning, Conflict Detection and Left/Right — plus a stand-in for ELICIT, its English listening module.

ATSA (7 tests)
All seven subtests, in the FAA's order: Numbers and Differences, Variables, Spatial and Visual Relationships, the ATC Simulation that runs collision avoidance and arithmetic at once, Logical Reasoning, personality and Reading Comprehension.

NAV CANADA (15 tests)
Stage 1, the online assessment (4): the four timed sections in the order they are sat — inductive reasoning, concentration, spatial orientation, and the deductive grid Aon brands gapChallenge.

Stage 2, the in-person day (11): NAV CANADA's on-site stage IS EUROCONTROL's FEAST, so this is the FEAST battery itself, not ability tests renamed after it.

HONEST ABOUT WHAT ISN'T PUBLISHED
No provider releases its question bank, its timings or its pass marks, and we do not pretend otherwise. NATS names the ability areas Stage 1 covers but not which tests it uses. EUROCONTROL publishes its module structure but no item bank, and each organisation using FEAST sets its own cut score. The FAA publishes no subtest specification. Where something is not public, you are told — so you walk in prepared, not misinformed.
