Athena: Alarm

The alarm rings. One tap on “I’m up”, and the people who care can see the day has started. They can send a little sunshine back. And if a morning stays quiet, they get one calm note.

Athena is a gentle morning check-in for families, near and far.

HOW IT WORKS
• Set it once. Pick a wake-up time: the same every day, or a different time for each day. It rings even when the iPhone is locked or on silent.
• Tap “I’m up”. One big, friendly button says good morning. Snooze is there too, for slow mornings.
• The circle sees it. The people in your circle can see you’re up, right in the app. Anyone who chooses “Morning update” also gets a notification, usually within seconds.

IF A MORNING STAYS QUIET
If there’s no “I’m up” within the wait someone chose (from 5 to 60 minutes after the alarm, and a little longer after a snooze), the circle gets one calm note. If a phone number is saved, a call is one tap away. The check runs on our servers, so it still works when a phone is off or its battery is flat.

SAY GOOD MORNING BACK
Every wake-up lands in a small feed the circle shares. One tap sends a sun, a heart, a flower, a rocket or a laugh. No messages to write, and no pressure to reply.

FOR EVERY KIND OF FAMILY
• Parents and grandparents: big, clear buttons, and text that grows with the iPhone’s text size.
• Children 11 and up with their own iPhone: a grown-up sets it up, and grown-up settings stay with the grown-ups.
• The whole family: one person sets it up, everyone joins with a short code, and each person has their own alarm.
Each person picks who they are (grandma, grandpa, mother, father, daughter or son), and Athena takes on their lettering, color and little pictures.

WIDGETS
Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show the next alarm and who’s up, without opening the app.

WHERE THEY WOKE UP, ONLY IF THEY WANT
Location sharing is off unless the person with the alarm turns it on, as approximate (about 1 km) or precise. It’s read only right after “I’m up”, never in the background, and a shared place disappears within a day. A child’s place never appears in notifications.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No sign-up, no email, no password. The app creates a random ID.
• Only the people in your circle can see your mornings.
• Feed entries are deleted after 30 days, shared places within 24 hours.
• No ads, and no tracking.
• Delete everything yourself at any time: Settings › Delete my data.

WHAT’S FREE, AND WHAT NEEDS A SUBSCRIPTION
Your own alarm is always free: setting it, ringing, snoozing and “I’m up” on your phone.
Sharing mornings with a circle runs on servers: wake-up notifications, the calm note on a quiet morning, the shared feed, reactions and widget updates between phones. So it needs a small subscription, Athena Connect. One person pays, and everyone in the circle is covered. One subscription covers up to 3 circles and 12 people.
Every new circle is free for its first week together, starting when the first person joins (one free week per phone). Nothing is charged automatically when the free week ends: the circle simply pauses unless someone in it subscribes, and your own alarm keeps ringing.
Athena Connect is available monthly or yearly. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. It renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you can manage or cancel it at any time in your App Store account settings.

A FRIENDLY CHECK-IN, NOT AN EMERGENCY SERVICE
Athena doesn’t call for help, and notifications can sometimes arrive late. If there’s ever any doubt, a phone call is best.

Requires iOS 26 or later.
