Auditory Memory Club

Auditory Memory Club is an engaging, evidence-based iPad app designed to strengthen auditory memory, listening, and sequencing skills in children. Developed by licensed and certified speech-language pathologist Barbara Fernandes, M.S., CCC-SLP, the app transforms auditory memory practice into an interactive and motivating experience that supports success in both the classroom and everyday communication.

Why Auditory Memory Matters

Difficulties with auditory memory can impact a child’s academic performance, language development, and ability to follow directions. Listening carefully, processing spoken information, and remembering what has been heard are essential components of learning (Mense, Debney & Druce, 2006).

Auditory Memory Club helps children build these foundational skills through four carefully designed, interactive activities—each targeting a specific aspect of auditory processing and recall.

Four Engaging Activities for Stronger Listening Skills
1. I Say, You Do
Children listen to spoken directions like “clap your hands” or “pretend you are eating a hamburger,” then complete the task. The app automatically increases complexity as the child demonstrates mastery.
2. What Was That?
Players hear an environmental sound such as rain, a horse, or a duck and identify the sound after a short delay—enhancing auditory attention and sound discrimination.
3. Remember for Amber
An animated character, Amber, asks the child to remember a series of words. Children recall all the words they heard (order not required), strengthening working memory and auditory retention.
4. Let’s Put It in Order
Children hear a list of words and must recall them in the same sequence. As performance improves, the list length increases, building auditory sequencing and short-term memory skills.

Each activity begins with a brief, animated introduction to guide the child. Animations can be turned off at any time for older or more independent users.


Customizable Learning Experience

Every child is unique, and Auditory Memory Club adapts to their needs.
• Adjust the recall delay from 1 to 100 seconds
• Add background noise to simulate real-world listening environments
• Use with one child or multiple players in the same session

These flexible options make the app ideal for speech therapy, classroom centers, or at-home practice.

Progress Tracking and Reports

The built-in Report Center tracks performance and progress over time, providing visual data and progress graphs.
