Situational awareness for pilots and dispatchers — every airport you care about, on one screen.
AvWx brings NOAA's forecasts and radar, AviationWeather.gov, FAA advisories and NOTAMs, Digital ATIS, NWS alerts and Apple Weather into one picture, so you can read a whole day of flying without opening five apps.
THE TAF TIMELINE
Every TAF drawn on one time axis, instead of read as a wall of code.
• TEMPO and PROB groups in their own band, so you see exactly which hours they cut across
• Each hour's worst ceiling and visibility across every group, with its flight category and hazards
• Runway wind components for every forecast period
• NOAA's hourly forecast beneath the TAF
• The current METAR and the time overlaid on the forecast
• Alternate requirements by 1-2-3, 1-1-3 or 1-1-2
THE NOAA METEOGRAM
One day, hour by hour: clouds by altitude to 45,000 ft, the freezing level, precipitation by type, winds aloft and the flight category — each reading labeled with the NOAA model behind it.
WHAT SETS IT APART
• Every airport side by side — METAR, TAF, radar and advisories at once
• Precise ceiling and visibility forecasts from NOAA — every 15 minutes for six hours in the US, and out to a week worldwide
• NOTAMs for every airport, closures and outages first, with closed runways and taxiways drawn in red on the satellite view
• Traffic flow and the runways in use — handy at non-towered fields, or in calm winds with no D-ATIS
• SIGMETs, CWAs and NWS alerts matched to your airport's position, not just its region
• See when another airport's ground stop or delay program is holding your departure
FREE
• Up to five airports
• METAR and TAF, decoded and clearly formatted
• The full TAF timeline, in airport local time or UTC
• NOTAMs and traffic flow
• FAA advisories and SIGMET/CWA alerts with countdowns
PREMIUM
Unlimited airports and everything below. One-week free trial, and it removes ads.
MAPS & RADAR
• Radar from NOAA's newest scans — reflectivity, echo tops and precipitation type, looped over the last hour
• Storm Vectors: storm cells with 30-minute motion arrows, odds of severe weather and echo tops as flight levels
• Lightning within about two minutes of the flash, satellite clouds and WPC surface fronts
• NWS alert regions nationwide, color-coded
• Worldwide forecast layers: flight category, ceiling, visibility, wind, clouds, temperature, dewpoint, humidity, CAPE, smoke and air quality, plus echo tops and turbulence in the US
• Observed wildfire smoke and air quality
• Airspace overlays, US and international — tap any boundary to identify it
• Satellite imagery, zoomable to any runway end
WEATHER DEPTH
• The NOAA meteogram and hourly forecast tiles, from NOAA's LAMP, HRRR, National Blend and GFS models
• Charts for flight category, ceiling, visibility, wind, CAPE, lifted index, mixing height, freezing level, reflectivity, smoke and air quality, out to a week
• Apple Weather's tiles and charts, with temperatures against normal
• A radar pill with what is falling overhead and the last hour's chart; a lightning pill for strikes within ten miles
• Minute-by-minute next-hour precipitation
• Density altitude, heat index, sun and moon with twilight
OPERATIONS
• METAR tiles — every reading at a glance, with the observation's age
• Favored runways and wind components for the current METAR, with short-runway filtering
• Decoded D-ATIS beside the raw broadcast, with its age
• Saved places beyond airports — home, layovers, anywhere — with full forecasts
• Cloud-synced airport lists, offline-aware
