BeatGrid is a step sequencer for iPad with four tracks: drums, bass, synth and lead. Tap in your patterns, record from a MIDI keyboard, and chain your patterns into a song.
FOUR TRACKS, ONE GRID
• Drums: 8 lanes (kick, snare, hi-hats, clap, toms, rimshot) with per-step velocity
• Bass, synth and lead: a piano roll with chords of up to 8 notes, tied notes, drag-to-move and one-tap octave transpose
• One track at a time, full screen, switched with tabs
PATTERNS AND SONGS
• 8 patterns (A to H) per session
• Chain mode plays the ticked patterns in order, each repeated 1 to 8 times
• Pattern changes wait for the end of the loop, so the groove never breaks
TRACK LENGTHS
Each track has its own loop length: 16, 32, 48 or 64 steps. Pair a one-bar beat with a two-bar bassline or a three-bar lead to build longer phrases.
LIVE RECORDING
• GRID mode: notes snap to the step (1/16, 1/8 or 1/4)
• CLIP mode: record freely, without quantization: BeatGrid keeps your exact timing and shows every note on a timeline
• Count-in, metronome, and undo / redo on the bass, synth and lead tracks
• Your MIDI keyboard can play any track live, and each MIDI channel drives its own instrument
YOUR INSTRUMENTS
BeatGrid hosts AUv3 instruments. Load one instrument per track from the AUv3 apps installed on your iPad, open its editor, and balance the tracks with per-track volume and MIDI Learn.
Mix hardware and AUv3: send any track to an external synth or drum machine through a MIDI interface (Settings › MIDI), while the others play your AUv3 instruments.

Please note: BeatGrid does not include sounds of its own. It plays the AUv3 instruments installed on your iPad. A MIDI keyboard is optional.
