Description by 献慧 陈(from the App Store)
BioBench turns the calculations in biology into hands-on levels. Tap allele chips until the offspring ratio hits 9:3:3:1, transcribe and translate DNA into a target peptide, calculate magnification and the cells left in view, and adjust parameters and observe population growth. After every level, a principle card plugs your own numbers into the formula.
THREE SUBJECTS, 60 LEVELS Genetics: segregation and independent assortment, incomplete dominance and codominance, multiple alleles, lethal alleles, X-linked traits, test crosses and chi-square tests. Molecular: base pairing, semiconservative replication, transcription and translation, codons, silent, missense, nonsense and frameshift mutations. Cells and populations: magnification and field of view, counting chambers, cell cycle and meiosis counts, exponential and logistic growth, mark-recapture and energy transfer. Each subject has Intro, Core and Brainer levels; 30 levels are playable at no cost.
FIVE QUICK TOOLS, UNLIMITED RESULTS • Punnett square: 1–3 genes, simplest genotype and phenotype ratios, exact probabilities • Hardy-Weinberg: p, q, genotype frequencies and a chi-square check • Codon translator: DNA or mRNA to amino acids in three reading frames • Magnification and counting: total magnification, cells in view, chamber density, dilution counts • Population growth: exponential and logistic curves, K/2 and mark-recapture estimates
CODEX Original vector diagrams of animal, plant and prokaryotic cells. Tap a structure to see its role and how cell types differ. An interactive codon table.
PRO — ONE-TIME PURCHASE All 60 levels, full step-by-step principle cards, quick-tool working, and a saveable free bench for multi-generation crosses, sequence editing and population and predator-prey models. Hints are always unlimited.
PRIVACY AND SCOPE Works fully offline. No account, no ads, no analytics SDK; progress syncs through your private iCloud, while unfinished attempts stay on device. BioBench is a calculation and reasoning tool built on clearly stated teaching models (see About the Models in the app). It is not a DNA test or a health app, gives no medical advice, contains no lab procedures and promises no exam-score gains.
