Black Notebook is a detective novel you play by reading. Every case is a file: a night watchman frozen inside a dockside warehouse, a church bell that vanishes during Holy Week, a house by the tracks where an old woman hears footsteps under the floor, a photographer who never comes home from a party, death notices in the paper for people who are still alive.

HOW YOU PLAY
• Work the port and choose who to see. Every trip costs hours, and the day runs out.
• Question people and take notes. What matters goes in your notebook.
• Confront: put a piece of evidence in front of whoever lied to you. If it contradicts them, they talk.
• Build the case on the board and decide who to charge. The prosecutor weighs what you bring.
• Every case has several endings. Some close the right way. Some close the way somebody needs them to.
