Borealys: Northern Lights

Borealys tells you if you can see the northern lights tonight, and where to go.

Most aurora apps show the Kp index and leave the rest to you. Borealys does the rest. It puts aurora activity, cloud cover, darkness, the moon and town lights together into one answer for where you are.

ONE ANSWER FOR TONIGHT
- Go out now, Good chance, Worth a look or Not tonight
- The chance hour by hour through the night
- Which way to look, with a compass that turns with your phone
- Tap any box for the details, and the info button for what a chart means

WHERE TO GO
- Dark, clear spots near you, ranked for tonight, with drive times
- Light pollution from NASA night satellite images
- Tap anywhere on the map to check that place
- Nearest aurora now: the closest dark, clear place under the aurora, up to 700 km away
- Directions in Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze

ALERTS THAT RESPECT CLOUDS
Borealys alerts you only when the aurora is likely visible where you are or within your drive. A strong Kp behind thick clouds is not a reason to wake you. Alerts arrive even when the app is closed.

OUT THERE
- Watch mode in red night vision: a compass to the aurora, live activity and camera settings
- Tap I see it to keep your own aurora log with time, place and photo

PLAN AHEAD
- The next nights at a glance
- 3-day Kp forecast and 27-day outlook
- The Kp your sky needs, so the numbers mean something where you live
