BVI Risk

BVI - Risk will be supplied to you by your insurance company through a unique identifying code when applying for or renewing your life insurance.

The Body Volume Index (BVI), based on body shape and weight distribution, has been developed over twelve years as a specific alternative to the Body Mass Index (BVI) as an indicator of future health. The purpose is to provide an insurance company with information on your body volume distribution, to ensure that they provide you with the most appropriate and relevant insurance premium based upon your body shape. BMI was designed as a population measurement tool and uses height and weight only. BMI does not measure body shape.

The BVI-Risk app requires a confidential identifying code to be sent to a user applying for insurance. The data is then securely stored alongside your other data provided to the insurance company during the course of their assessment when providing you with a quotation on insurance.

The BVI-Risk app will deliver data confidentially to an insurance company through a self-scanning process undertaken in the privacy of your home or other private environment. The smartphone camera is used to collect body shape data but the images are never stored.
