It does not matter what language your phone is set to, whether the export came from an iPhone or an Android, or how old it is. If a chat would not import into an older version of Chat Keeper, try it again.

Bubbles, dates, and every participant in their own colour. Bold, italic and struck-through text appears the way it was typed. Tap a photo to open it, play a voice note where it was sent.

Search inside a conversation and jump straight to the message. Browse everything that was ever sent as Media, Links or Documents. Open a chat's details to see when it started, how many messages it holds and who wrote most of them.

► BACK IT UP, TAKE IT WITH YOU
Save your whole archive — every chat and every attachment — as a single file, and read it back onto a new phone. Keep that file wherever you like: on a computer, on a drive, in iCloud Drive. Protect it with a passphrase if you want to.

► EXPORT A SINGLE CHAT
Share one conversation as a web page that opens in any browser with its photos and voice notes intact, as a PDF for printing, or as plain text small enough to email. Yours to keep, readable without this app.

► SEE THE SHAPE OF YOUR CONVERSATIONS
When you talk, how quickly you reply, which emoji you actually use, and how much of the archive is pictures.

► LOCKED, AND OFFLINE BY DESIGN
Everything sits behind a passcode, with Face ID or Touch ID to unlock. There is no account and no sync, and Chat Keeper never uploads anything: your conversations are on your phone, and a backup file goes only where you put it.

► WORTH KNOWING BEFORE YOU BUY
Chat Keeper reads the chat exports WhatsApp produces. It is a one-way street: a conversation you archive here can be read, searched, printed and exported, but it cannot be put back into WhatsApp, and no app can do that. It archives what you export — it does not recover messages that are already gone.
