DeCiphr's AI applies your framework precisely to each image — with the option to restrict the model to your codes only (Strict Coding Mode), so no general AI assumptions contaminate your analysis.

GEOSEMIOTIC ANALYSIS
For researchers in linguistic landscape studies, DeCiphr includes a full built-in framework based on Scollon & Wong Scollon (2003), in a two-layer model: AI structural coding plus your own interpretive and reflexive coding.

PRIVACY & DATA
By default, DeCiphr stores all your data locally on your device and the developer cannot access it. Creating an account is optional; if you do, your projects, frameworks, and coded data sync to your private DeCiphr account so the mobile and web apps share them — your photographs always remain on your device. When you run an analysis, your image is sent to Anthropic's Claude Vision API only for that request and is not retained. Your API key, if provided, is stored only on your device.
