Eloqi: AI Chess Coach

Get better at chess on the board you already own. Put your iPhone on a stand, point it at the board, and Eloqi follows the game. Your bot opponent says its move out loud, and your coach explains the idea in plain words.
No electronic board needed. A normal chess set works.

WHAT YOU GET

• Play your real board. The camera reads the position. You move the real pieces, and the bot tells you its reply.
• A coach who talks. Pick one of six coaches, each with a face and a voice. Your coach points out the idea behind a move while you play.
• 36 bot opponents, from 500 to 2600 Elo, 18 of them free. Each one has its own style and talks while you play.
• Game Review. Every move graded, with an accuracy score, an evaluation graph and a spoken summary. Tap Best, Retry or Explain on any move.
• Puzzles. Thousands of real positions at your level, a daily puzzle, Puzzle Rush, and puzzles made from the mistakes in your own games.
• Lessons. Start with the rules in First Steps, then learn openings and plans step by step.
• Insights. Import your Lichess or chess.com games by username and see your openings and habits.
• Watch. Follow live Lichess broadcasts and classic games, with your coach explaining at your level.
• Play online on Lichess with your own Lichess account. Game chat is optional, and you can switch it off.
• An honest rating. It uses the Glicko-2 method, the same method Lichess uses.
• Prefer the screen? Every mode also works on screen, with no board.

GOOD TO KNOW

• The coaches and the bots speak English. The app menus are in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian and Japanese.
• The voice and the board camera run on your iPhone. The full camera view stays on the device. A few board-only photos help train board reading, and you can turn that off in Settings.
• After a one-time download of the voice and board models, bot games, puzzles, lessons and Game Review work offline. Online play, game import and live broadcasts need a connection.
• The camera works best with a standard set, a steady phone and even light. A simple phone stand helps.
• Real board mode needs camera access.
• No Eloqi account. No ads.
