Dispersion is an important concept in golf because it can indicate a player's accuracy and precision with different clubs, distances and types of shots.

If a golfer hits 10 shots with a 7-iron, and the shots land within a 20-yard radius of the target, this radius represents the dispersion. If the shots are mostly clustered together with a few outliers, the golfer has high consistency but may need to work on accuracy.
