GuitarLab: Tab Maker & Player

GuitarLab is a tablature editor and player for guitar, bass and every fretted instrument. Open the tabs you already have, hear them played the way a string plays them, and write your own, with notation and tab engraved together on a page you can print.

OPEN WHAT YOU HAVE
• Guitar Pro 1 to 8, MusicXML, MIDI, ASCII tab, TuxGuitar, Power Tab and TablEdit files, from anywhere the Files app reaches: your iPad, iCloud Drive, a server.
• Four songs to try, from a shuffle band to one bar of every technique a tab can say.

HEAR EVERY TECHNIQUE
• Bends, slides, hammer-ons and pull-offs, vibrato, harmonics, palm mutes, let ring, tapping, whammy dives: played as a string plays them, through modelled strings, amps, drums and a room.
• Loop a passage, slow it down, count in, and let the speed trainer bring it up to tempo.
• GuitarLab plays with your iPhone or iPad silenced, and beside the music in another app, so you can play along with a record.

WRITE YOUR OWN
• Tap a fret on the fretboard to write a note, or type frets on a keyboard: arrows move, ⌘Z undoes, every shortcut a desktop has.
• Every note and beat in the inspector: bends drawn as curves, slides, harmonics, dynamics, articulation, picking and strumming.
• Insert, clear and repeat bars; paste over or between; transpose the selection, a track or the whole song, chord names too.
• Name chords, find voicings in the chord finder, see a scale on the fretboard.

PRACTISE
• A tuner that listens through the microphone.
• A fretboard that lights up what plays, left-handed if you like, with note names in letters, German or solfège.

SHARE AND PRINT
• Save as GuitarLab tablature, or export Guitar Pro, MusicXML, MIDI, ASCII, PDF, SVG and WAV, wherever you choose. An export says what its format cannot hold.

GuitarLab is in fifteen languages, follows Light and Dark Mode, and keeps your unsaved work if it is interrupted. It collects nothing: your songs stay on your device and wherever you put them.
