When reading Chinese, do you sometimes forget the piniyin, the meaning, or both?

HanziTap is a focused reading tool for Chinese text. Paste what you want to read (an article, a message, a passage from a book) and tap any word to see its pinyin right above the character, along with a definition or translation when one is available.

How it works:
1. Open the app and paste your text, type it directly, scan with your camera or load from a photo - you can even paste a screenshot.
2. Tap any Chinese word to reveal its pronunciation and meaning.

Each tap cycles through up to three layers:
1. Pinyin with tone marks
2. Chinese definition, where available
3. English translation, where available
No popups, no context switching, no leaving the page.

Built for readers:
HanziTap is not a flashcard app or a grammar tutor. It's for the moment when you're reading and hit a word you don't know. The goal is to get you the information and get out of the way so you can keep reading.

Picture-to-text:
Paste screenshots and pick the words you want to read straight from the picture. You can also take a photo directly in the app, or load existing pictures from your photos.

Works fully offline:
The dictionary and pinyin engine are bundled with the app. No internet connection required. No lookups, no latency, no data sent anywhere.

Simplified and traditional Chinese:
Paste text in either script. HanziTap handles the conversion internally. You always see your original characters on screen.

Clean, minimal interface:
No ads, no accounts, no onboarding flow. Open the app, paste text, read.
