Prop your phone on the gate rail and let them walk through. Herdcount counts each animal as it crosses the line on screen — no photo, no clicker, no losing your place at 140 and starting again.

Out in the paddock instead? Hold it up and pan slowly across the field. Same thing: every animal counted once as it passes.

IT CORRECTS ITSELF
Pan back to double-check and the count unwinds instead of doubling. A ewe that balks at the gate and turns around comes straight back off the tally. Count the way you actually move.

COUNT PEOPLE, TOO
Scan mode counts people exactly the same way — through a gate, a doorway, or a shed. Handy for a shearing crew, a farm shop, an open day, a market stall, or a school visit.

Herdcount counts people. It does not identify them: no faces are stored, no video is recorded, and nothing is uploaded. There is no server to upload to.
