Description by Sang Joon Park(from the App Store)
The Odyssey is the story of a man who takes twenty years to get home. But what decides things in this epic is not who is strongest — it is who may stand where. The threshold belongs to guests and beggars, the hearth to suppliants, the upper rooms to the women of the house.
Hexa Odyssey stages it. Pick a scene and the characters act it out: Athena, disguised as a stranger, waits at the door; Telemachus runs to take her hand; the suitors throw dice on their oxhides and never look up.
■ All 24 books, 96 scenes, acted out Characters walk in, kneel, draw the bow and speak — in speech bubbles taken straight from the text. Each scene runs about a minute and a half, with chapters you can jump between.
■ Switch the point of view Through "Mortal eyes", the disguised Athena is only Mentes, a traveller. Through "Divine eyes", the helmeted goddess is plainly there. Dramatic irony, made visible.
■ The Greek, word for word 663 passages from the Perseus Digital Library text, with line numbers, transliteration, a literal translation and notes. Greek keywords appear on stage at the moment the line happens — kleos (glory), nostos (homecoming), xenia (hospitality), metis (cunning).
■ A map for every scene The hex map behind each scene shows who stands where — the right of entry, the right to speak and the touch of the gods change from tile to tile.
■ Later works, honestly sorted 323 modern works that seem to borrow these scenes, from Joyce's Ulysses to Star Wars. Those backed by the creator's own words or scholarship are marked Confirmed; those that only share a structure are marked Interpretation.
■ Fully offline No network requests, no data collected, no account, no ads.
For readers from middle school up. For a first reading, the stage; for a second, the Greek and the notes.
