How Long Here

Ever wonder how long you've been somewhere? How Long Here automatically detects when you arrive at a place and starts a live timer. No manual tracking required.

A home screen widget lets you see your current visit at a glance. When you leave, the visit is saved so you can look back at where you spent your time.

HOW IT WORKS

How Long Here offers two location modes so you can choose the right balance of speed and battery life.

Standard mode (default):
- Uses Apple's Visit Monitoring API to detect when you stop at a location. This is the same efficient system your phone already uses. It's not GPS tracking, so battery impact is minimal.
- No blue arrow in the status bar
- Arrivals and departures may be detected with a 1–5 minute delay

Real-Time mode (optional, enable in Settings):
- Uses continuous location monitoring via cell towers and WiFi (not GPS) for faster, more precise detection
- Shows the blue location arrow in the status bar
- Modest additional battery usage
