Touch a tablet and it changes. The tablets beside it echo the change. Match the pattern you are shown, and the board reaches resonance.
Inland Light is a calm puzzle game set in eight quiet places, with a written mystery running through them. Why was the shore's guiding light turned inland before the place fell quiet?
FILL, FADE AND ECHO Every board is a grid of stone tablets. Each tablet holds a memory at one of three levels: empty, half or full. Touch a tablet and it fades one level. If it was empty, it fills completely instead. Its neighbours echo it: they fill if it filled, and fade if it faded. That is the whole rule. The opening weaves teach it on the board, one short line at a time. Hold a tablet to preview a pulse before you let go.
EIGHT PLACES, ONE MYSTERY Quiet Shore, Tideless Deep, Signal House, Tide Archive, Glasshouse, Crossing, Common Room and Last Beacon. Between them they hold 178 weaves, which is what Inland Light calls its puzzles. As you restore a place, light returns to it and short written discoveries come back, each one a piece of the same story. Reading is optional, and anything you have found can be read again.
A SOUNDSCAPE FOR EVERY PLACE Each place has its own four-minute soundscape. It begins spare and fills out as you restore the place. The soundscape and the pulse sounds have separate volume levels.
TAKE YOUR TIME There are no timers, no lives and no energy. Undo a pulse, restart a weave, or leave one half done and come back to it later.
MADE TO BE READ WITHOUT COLOUR Every memory level has its own engraved symbol, so colour is never the only signal. You can reduce motion, turn on high contrast and raise the text size to 200%. Boards and controls carry descriptions for screen readers. We are still testing those with VoiceOver on devices.
FREE TO START, ONE PURCHASE Quiet Shore is free: 20 weaves, four written discoveries and its soundscape. One purchase through the App Store unlocks the complete eight-memory game. No ads, no subscriptions, and nothing that gives an advantage in play is for sale.
NO ACCOUNT, AND IT PLAYS OFFLINE There is no account and no sign-in. Your progress is saved on your device, and you can play without a connection. Buying or restoring the unlock needs a connection, through the App Store. If the game crashes, it sends a short technical report with no name, account, location or save data in it; you can turn this off in Settings.
