Choose from 15 major keys, or use a keyless mode that prefers flats or sharps. Optional Roman-numeral scale degrees help connect each chord to the selected key. Valid chords outside that key are clearly identified without treating them as mistakes.

Advanced interpretation options can identify incomplete and rootless voicings or detect played scales. Straightforward defaults keep complete chords and inversions at the top, so the most useful answers appear first.

Instinctive Chords analyses the notes currently held. It does not analyse chord progressions or attempt to determine a chord’s musical function within a composition. Instinctive chords does not produce any sounds.
