Itten

A time-telling object reduced to its most elemental form. First designed in 2012, revisited and refined in 2026. The name borrows from the Japanese 一点 — one dot — and nods to Johannes Itten, the Bauhaus master who understood that reduction is not absence but clarity.

There are no numbers and no hands. Just dots. It's something calm to watch while you work, think or rest.

TWO FACES
Essence has a thin ring with a dot that goes round it once a minute. The hour is a larger disc, with the minute as a small dot inside it.
Index has sixty markers round the edge, and a comet that sweeps past them with the seconds.

LEAVE IT ON
Itten is made to be left running: on your desk, by your bed or on the TV. It follows your device's Light or Dark setting, or you can choose one. The face moves by a few pixels now and then so it doesn't burn into the screen.

NIGHT MODE
At night the whole face glows softly in green or red on black, and the rest of the screen stays dark. You can turn the brightness down, and have Night mode come on and go off at set times.

AMBIENT SOUND
Turn on Ambient Sound and Itten plays soft music made from the clock itself. The notes follow the second round the dial, a low bell sounds every minute, and the key changes every hour. It's made as it plays, and every minute of the day sounds different.

Use it while you work, read or meditate, or as you fall asleep. Set the Sound Timer for ten minutes or an hour, and it ends with a slow fade or a bell. Add the Sleep Timer and your phone locks itself when you're done.

KEEP SCREEN ON
Keep the clock on all night, or only while your device is charging. The Sleep Timer turns it off when you're done.

WIDGETS
Small and large widgets for the Home Screen, a round one for the Lock Screen, StandBy when your iPhone is on its side and charging, and desktop widgets on the Mac.

EVERY DEVICE
iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. Your settings sync through iCloud.

ITTEN PRO
Both faces, Light and Dark, and Itten Red are free. Itten Pro adds:
