Japan Map Quiz 47

"Which prefecture is this?"

Learning the prefectures of Japan means connecting three things: the name, the
place, and what it is known for. Memorising names alone does not help when you
are looking at a shape on a map.

This app lets you learn by tapping the map, then check yourself with a quiz.

■ Study Mode
Tap a prefecture on the map to see:

・Its name (with kana reading in Japanese)
・The capital city
・Local specialties — Aomori's apples, Yamanashi's grapes, peaches and wine
・Famous places — Kumamoto Castle, Mount Aso, the sea around Amakusa
・Area and population
・A fact worth knowing — Nagano borders eight prefectures, more than any other

■ Map quiz
Ten multiple-choice questions: which prefecture is highlighted? You get a score
out of ten, your best score is kept, and you can review everything you missed.

Wrong answers are drawn from the same region first, so guessing does not get
you far. You can quiz on all of Japan or on one region at a time.

■ Clue quiz
Ten more questions, this time from a written clue: "Which prefecture is Sendai in?" The clues come from capitals, local specialties, landmarks and
trivia, so it works as a follow-up once you know the map.

■ The small prefectures are tappable
Kagawa and Osaka are hard to hit when all 47 are on screen at once. Tap a region
button and that region fills the screen, with optional name labels — which is
also a good way to learn one region at a time.

■ A real map
Built from "Global Map Japan" data published by the Geospatial Information
Authority of Japan, so the coastlines are the real ones. (Okinawa is drawn inside
a dashed box at a different position and scale, so that it fits on screen.)

■ Also
・Japanese, English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 한국어, Español, Français, Deutsch, Português
・Works completely offline — the map and all data are bundled in the app
・No account, no sign-in. Scores and settings stay on your device
・No ads while you are answering a test question
・Retry just the questions you missed, in exchange for watching a short video
・One-time purchase to remove ads, restorable on a new device

For students and adults alike, and for anyone learning about Japan before a trip.
