Write freely with Apple Pencil, switch to typing when you want, follow thoughtful daily prompts, or reflect on the world around you — all without turning journaling into another noisy productivity system.

Journal
Write whatever is on your mind. Create multiple pages, revisit past entries, organize with folders, search your writing, recover deleted work, and export when you need to take your thoughts elsewhere.

Guided Journal
Some days you know exactly what you want to say. Other days, you just need somewhere to begin.

Guided Journal gives you five thoughtful prompts each day. Choose one, answer several, or follow every prompt that speaks to you. Each response keeps its own pages, stays editable, and remains easy to find later in your Guided archive.

Yesterday, Through You
Yesterday, Through You offers seven daily reflection prompts inspired by stories from the world around you.

The goal is not to turn journaling into a news feed. It is to give you a quieter way to process what you read, notice what stays with you, and explore how the outside world connects to your own thoughts.

Use one prompt or all seven. Every reflection keeps its own pages and history.

Made for Apple Pencil
The iPad experience is built around handwriting.

Use Apple Pencil for a paper-like writing flow with finger gestures reserved for navigation. Apple Pencil Pro squeeze can open the radial writing tools, letting your tools stay out of the way until you need them.

Choose from pen, pencil, highlighter, eraser, white ink, and custom colors.

Handwrite or type
Not every thought wants to be handwritten.

Switch between Pencil and Type while preserving existing work. Typed pages follow the visible ruling so writing still feels like it belongs on the page instead of floating over it.

Standard Apple keyboard input and system dictation remain available through the normal iPad keyboard experience.

Make the page your own
Customize the page color, ruling color, ink color, line spacing, and writing tools to create a journal that feels personal.

Keep the traditional cream-paper look, make it brighter, soften it, or build something completely different.

Built around your writing
Your past entries remain editable. A day can contain multiple pages. Guided and Yesterday, Through You responses remain independent so switching prompts never overwrites another reflection.

Page numbers stay subtle at the bottom of the page, giving the journal a sense of place without turning it into a document manager.

Private by design
Your journal is local-first.

Your writing is not sent to the public prompt service. Guided Journal requests only the date needed to retrieve that day’s prompts. Your journal content stays on your device and may sync privately through iCloud when available.

No social feed. No public profile. No advertising system built around your thoughts.

Free to journal
The core Journal experience is free.

An optional subscription unlocks Guided Journal and Yesterday, Through You, with monthly and annual options presented through Apple.

Saved guided reflections remain yours even if your subscription later ends.
