Kalk: Plain Text Calculator

Kalk is a calculator you write in like a notes app.

Type words and numbers together, the way you'd jot something down: "Rent 1 200 + utilities 180", "Coffee 4.50 × 20 workdays", "100 EUR in USD". Every line with a calculation shows its answer on the right, as you type. No keypad, no equals button, no lost history: the whole calculation stays readable and editable.

WRITE THE WAY YOU THINK
• Words around numbers are simply ignored, so notes and math share a line
• Headings with #, comments with //
• Big numbers the easy way: 1 250 000, 45k, 2.5M, 1bn
• Decimal point or comma, whichever you're used to

MATH, PERCENT, UNITS
• Brackets, powers, negative numbers
• Percentages the way people say them: 100 + 15%, 20% of 80, Price − 10%
• Convert length, weight, volume, speed, temperature, time and data: 6 ft in cm, 180 lb in kg, 38 °C in °F

CURRENCIES AND CRYPTO
• Live exchange rates for world currencies
• Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, stablecoins and more
• Mix currencies in one line: £80 + €50, (0.1 BTC + 2 ETH) in USD

TOTALS THAT ADD THEMSELVES
• Write Total, sum or avg under a list to add it up
• Sections end at a blank line or heading, so one sheet can hold many lists
• The bottom bar keeps a running grand total
• Name values and reuse them: Rate: $85, Rate × 37.5
