Description by Keypo, Inc.(from the App Store)
The most secure way to backup your crypto seed phrase.
This app stores one encrypted piece of your seed phrase as part of Keypo's 2-of-3 recovery system. Your share is protected by Face ID and the Secure Enclave—it never touches the cloud.
Requires Keypo for Desktop to get started: keypo.io/macos
WHAT IS KEYPO?
Paper backups get lost. Password managers get hacked. Custodians can freeze your accounts. Keypo is a new way to recover your seed phrases that is self custody without a single point of failure.
Keypo splits your seed phrase into pieces across devices you already own: your Mac, your iPhone, and your YubiKey (optional). Each piece is encrypted with the device's highest security features, the Secure Enclave, and can only be decrypted using Touch ID (on your Mac), Face ID (on your iPhone) and a PIN (on your Yubikey). Lose one device? Recover your full seed phrase with any two.
Your seed phrase never touches the cloud, we never collect any personal information, and there's no single point of failure.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Enter your seed phrase on your Mac using Keypo for Desktop 2. Keypo splits it into 3 pieces using Shamir's Secret Sharing 3. One piece is sent to this iPhone app, encrypted with Face ID. The other two pieces are encrypted by your Mac using Touch ID and your Yubikey using a PIN. 4. Recover anytime with any 2 of 3 devices
No single piece reveals anything about your seed phrase. Even if one device is stolen, your seed phrase stays safe.
WHAT THIS APP DOES
• Receives and stores your encrypted share from the Keypo for Desktop app • Protects your share with Face ID authentication • Sends your share back to your Mac when you need to recover
SECURITY YOU CAN TRUST
• Secure Enclave encryption on Mac and iPhone • YubiKey hardware security key support • Touch ID and Face ID authentication • No cloud sync—your secrets never leave your devices • No master password to remember or lose • Shamir's Secret Sharing (2-of-3 threshold cryptography). Keypo uses Privy's Shamir secret sharing library, which is open-sourced, audited and has zero external library dependencies: https://github.com/privy-io/shamir-secret-sharing
WORKS WITH ANY WALLET
Keypo works with any BIP-39 seed phrase—Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and thousands of other assets. If your wallet gave you 12, 18, or 24 words, Keypo can protect them.
ALSO PROTECTS
• Recovery codes (1Password, Authy, iCloud, etc.) • API keys and private keys • Any sensitive text up to 1,024 characters
REQUIREMENTS
• Mac with Touch ID running macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later • iPhone with Face ID running iOS 17.6 or later • Keypo iOS companion app (free): keypo.io/ios • YubiKey 5 Series (optional but recommended)
