Kopfrechnen Trainer

Kopfrechnen Trainer is a German-language app. Every problem is read aloud in German and is not shown on screen while the child works on it. There is no English version, no English audio and no text mode. The app suits children who do their maths in German: at a Grundschule, Volksschule or Primarschule in Germany, Austria or Switzerland, at a German-language school abroad, or in a bilingual family that wants German maths practice at home. Your child needs to understand spoken German numbers and short German sentences to use it.

WHY THE PROBLEMS ARE SPOKEN
Teachers in German-speaking primary schools dictate mental-arithmetic problems and the children write down only the answer. This app does the same. The child hears "sieben mal acht", holds the numbers in their head, works it out and types the result. Nothing to read off the screen, nothing to copy. The audio can be replayed as often as needed. If the child is stuck, a hint names the strategy, and the solution can be shown.

WHAT YOUR CHILD PRACTISES
• Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division (plus, minus, mal, geteilt)
• Numbers up to 20, 100, 1,000 and 10,000
• The times tables (Einmaleins) and multiplication beyond them
• Division with remainder and short word problems (Sachaufgaben), also spoken in German
• Seven levels, from the end of Klasse 1 to Klasse 4 in the German school system, roughly ages 7 to 10
• Over 2,400 problems, each with a strategy hint and a solution

STRATEGIES, NAMED AS IN SCHOOL
The hints use the strategy names children hear in Bavarian primary schools: Verdoppeln, Tauschaufgaben, Hilfsaufgaben, Kernaufgaben, Umkehraufgaben, Stellenweise rechnen, Dividieren mit Rest and more. The levels and strategies are our own alignment with the Bavarian LehrplanPLUS for primary mathematics. This is not an official review or endorsement by any education authority.

WHO MADE IT
Kopfrechnen Trainer was designed by two Bavarian primary-school brothers together with their parents, starting from the mental-arithmetic dictation they knew from their own classroom. It is a small, quiet app: no reward games, no advertising, just listening and calculating.

Please note once more: the interface, the audio and the word problems are all in German. If you are looking for an English-language maths app, this is not it.
