Krino - Prebunking

Spot misleading information before you share it.

A post that sparks outrage. A news story that seems too perfect. A forwarded message urging you to "share with everyone". A video generated by artificial intelligence. Krino does not tell you what to think: it trains you to question suspicious content before believing it or passing it on, especially when emotion makes you want to act straight away.

This is called prebunking. It works before the fact, rather than correcting a claim afterwards: you encounter manipulation techniques in a training scenario, so you can recognise them for yourself when you come across them elsewhere.

WHAT YOU GET

• 45 interactive scenarios covering geopolitics, politics, current affairs, social media, health and artificial intelligence. Start with a text message asking for two euros and work up to coordinated operations, fabricated polls and cloned voices on the phone.
• 10 short study chapters with clear research references: how disinformation works, the biases that make us susceptible, manipulation techniques, source and content verification, viral spread, AI, voting and health.
• 15 reference entries on methods and concepts to consult when needed: SIFT, lateral reading, FLICC, reverse image search, relative and absolute risk, and the hierarchy of evidence.
• A final exam with 30 questions drawn from a bank of 80 and marked on the server, plus a certificate that anyone with its code can verify online.

HOW A SCENARIO WORKS

You receive suspicious content and face the source defending it: an anonymous account, a partisan commentator, a self-styled expert or a chatbot. At each step, you choose your next move: what to ask, what to check and what to decide. Your choices have consequences: they reveal a manipulation technique or leave it undetected. If you make a mistake, you can try that step again, and that is where learning happens. At the end, a debrief assesses your judgement, walks you through the solution and explains what you identified, how you checked it and what you decided.

METHOD, NOT OPINIONS

Krino draws on established sources. Its scenarios are fictional and based on documented techniques: no real-world hoax is reproduced, so you can practise the method without recirculating the content. In health scenarios, conditions and treatments remain generic: the exercise teaches a method and does not provide medical advice.

NO ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Krino does not use AI systems or send your content to third-party providers: people write the scenarios, and predefined rules assess your choices. It teaches you to recognise synthetic content; it does not produce it.

Students and teachers, people who answer health questions, those who communicate on behalf of an organisation, and family members supporting someone vulnerable. No technical knowledge is needed.
