The app chooses new words and words you're starting to forget, so you don't have to decide what to practice. Pronunciation Check shows which characters were heard differently and how to improve them.
Study around 5,000 words from HSK 2.0 Levels 1–6 by listening, reading, writing and speaking.
Note: The HSK 3.0 vocabulary framework is not currently supported.
This app is for you if:
• You want to build your HSK vocabulary before test day
• You can read a word but don't recognize it by sound
• You want to check whether your pronunciation is understood
• You want to practice writing Chinese characters
• You find it hard to choose which words to review
Remember: review words before you forget
Today's session is 10 words. The app mixes new words, words you're learning and words you're starting to forget. Correct answers space out your next reviews; an incorrect answer brings the next review closer.
A word counts as mastered after four correct answers on separate days. When you're starting to forget it, it leaves the mastered count and returns to your review words.
Choose 5, 10 or 20 new words a day, or remove the limit when your test is close.
Listen: understand words by sound
The approximately 5,000 words come with Chinese audio, example sentences and spoken translations. Auto-play moves to the next word with the screen off, and the audio is built in for offline listening.
Adjust the playback speed, the number of Chinese audio repeats and the pause between words.
In Listening Quiz, answer from the sound alone. Find the words you can read but don't yet recognize by ear.
Read: learn words in sentences
In Fill in the Blank, choose the word that fits the sentence. The Reference tab explains 253 grammar points from Levels 1–6, with examples.
Grammar Fill-in lets you practice those examples in the same order as the explanations. If you make a mistake, you can open the explanation from the question.
Write: one stroke at a time
In Stroke Order practice, write with your finger or Apple Pencil. The app lets you know when a stroke's order or direction is incorrect. If you get stuck, the next stroke lights up.
Practice all 2,663 characters found in the included vocabulary.
Speak: see how you were heard
In Pronunciation Check, listen to the model and repeat it. The app checks whether it recognized the word. If it didn't, it shows which characters were heard differently and how to improve them.
About 4,200 words of two or more characters are supported. Recognition runs on your device; your voice is never sent anywhere.
AI Coach: find what to practice next
In the Record tab, "Your week, by AI Coach" lists words to practice next, pairs you mix up, words to relearn by ear and related grammar points from your last seven days. Start a practice session with those words in one tap.
"Words to go" shows the words remaining for your chosen level and an estimate based on your current pace.
On-device AI turns the collected facts into a short note. Devices without Apple Intelligence show the same numbers and next practice steps.
Pinyin from the ground up
The initials, finals and tones tables come with audio. Pinyin Input accepts answers with or without tone marks, and ü typed as v.
Anytime, on your devices
Your word progress syncs between iPhone and iPad through iCloud. Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show a word and move to the next one every hour.
Start studying from Control Center or Siri, and find words with Spotlight. Set a study reminder for the time you choose, and receive a weekly review on Sunday evening.
iPad and iPhone Duo
On iPad and an open iPhone Duo, the word list and details appear side by side. Close the Duo and stand it on its side to view one word at a time with auto-play. When it's half-open, tappable words and the writing area stay clear of the fold.
Choose your level and start with today's 10 words.
