Lunar Aspect: Moon Planetarium

You've spent your life looking at the Moon. Now stand on it - and look back.

Above a silent lunar landscape, Earth hangs in the darkness: a blue world of oceans, continents and swirling clouds. It turns before your eyes, changing from a slender crescent to a luminous full Earth.

Welcome to Lunar Aspect, your window onto the cosmos from the Moon.

SEE HOME IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT
Watch Earth's phases unfold. Follow the boundary between day and night across its surface, and discover Earthshine: sunlight reflected from our world that softly illuminates the lunar night.

MAKE TIME MOVE AROUND YOU
Let days pass in moments. Watch the Sun drift across an airless sky, casting long shadows over the ground. Away from the poles, sunrise to sunset lasts roughly two Earth weeks. The sky stays black even in daylight. Familiar celestial rhythms become extraordinary.

WITNESS AN ECLIPSE FROM THE OTHER SIDE
From Earth, we call it a lunar eclipse. From the Moon, Earth passes across the Sun: a solar eclipse from your new viewpoint. Explore these alignments and the warm light filtering through our planet's atmosphere. Then reverse the spectacle and watch the Moon's shadow travel across Earth.

FIND YOUR PLACE AMONG THE STARS
Pan across the sky, zoom toward Earth, tap named stars and planets for information, and jump to celestial events. Take the guided tour or choose your own place and time to explore.

CHOOSE YOUR LUNAR HORIZON
Stand at Tranquility Base, explore a polar viewpoint, or venture to the far side, where Earth stays out of sight. Across most of the near side, Earth lingers in almost the same patch of sky. Near the lunar limb, its slow wobble can carry it across the horizon.

A UNIVERSE IN YOUR POCKET
The astronomical view is calculated on your device. Explore offline, including in aeroplane mode. No account required.

Real astronomical calculations bring the sky to life. Lunar terrain and selected visual effects are illustrative; event timings are simulated predictions.

A familiar universe. An unfamiliar point of view.
